There is something truly inspiring about seeing people come together for a common cause. It’s even more inspiring when they come from across the state of Iowa for a first-ever mega-country concert in Kinnick Stadium. The Back Porch Revival lived up to its name. Tens of thousands of people attended the concert. Many of them were just there for the country music. Blake Shelton, Thomas Rhett and Big and Rich were among the performers. Throw in an appearance by former Indianapolis Colt, Dallas Clark and television star Ashton Kutcher and you truly have an all-star line-up. What many did not expect was a revival of enormous pride in the state we call home. All of the money raised goes to www.thenativefund.com.
An organization founded by Clark and supported by Kutcher. Native Fund is designed to help Iowans who are affected by natural disasters such as tornadoes and floods. Throughout the evening, the stars took the stage telling the crowd, how incredible the turnout was. They marveled at the history-making event inside Kinnick stadium and they never let us forget why we were there. This was much more than a concert. This was a show of Iowans helping Iowans.
Throughout the evening, the stadium shined bright, not from the stadium lights. Thousands of lights from cell phones lit up the venue. How was the entertainment? Phenomenal. What was it like to be part of a history-making evening in Kinnick? Incredible. How do you describe the pride that you feel being a resident of this state? You can’t. Politics may divide us. We all have our own beliefs. Our interests vary. But, this state will always come together in times of tragedy. Iowa is about family, loyalty and pride. All three were present at the Back Porch Revival.
